What’s the foundation of continuous casting machines?

The foundations design of continuous casting machines(slab,billet,bloom and round billet.)

1 When determining the subgrade,factors specified in Section 3.2.1 of this Code shall be considered,and the requirements for subgrade bearing capacity,foundation deformation and stability must be satisfied.

2 Depending on the different geological conditions and loads,the supporting layers for foundations shall be selected as follows:

2.1 If continuous casting machines are to be built on natural foundations,medium dense-dense gravel,soil and sand soil,hard plastic clay or rock should be used as the supporting layers.

2.2 Provided that the subgrade bearing capacity and foundation deformation can meet the requirements,the improved subgrade layers may be used as the supporting layers.

2.3 The same rock layers should be used as the supporting layers for the same foundations.In case of piled foundations,the piles should be of the same type,and the same rock layers should be used as the supporting layers of pile tips.If it is impossible to have the same supporting layers because the soil underneath the foundation varies greatly,the soil layers featuring similar geotechnical behavior may be used as the supporting layers provided that they can provide adequate bearing capacity,and the foundation settlements and differential settlements shall allow for normal operation of equipment and process.

3 For long continuous casting lines,if natural foundations can provide adequate bearing capacity in the run out area where the loads on foundations are relatively smaller,piled foundations can be applied in the casting area while natural foundations can be used in the runout area.To obtain a smooth and continuous curve of deformation due to the foundation settlements in the casting area and runout area,settlement transition sections may be arranged properly in a range around the connections between the foundations in the runout area and the foundations in the casting area.

 

4. Unless otherwise specified by the process and equipment requirements,the foundation deformation for continuous casting machines shall meet the following requirements:

1 The calculation result of average foundation settlements shall be no more than 150mm.2 The calculation result of the inclination of foundations perpendicular to the continuous casting lines should be no more than 0.0005.3 The calculation result of the localized inclinations of foundations alongside the continuous casting lines should be no more than 0.0005.
