When and how to add Protective Slag for continuous casting is the most beneficial?
In the actual production process, the performance of mould powder g is closely related to the operation of adding slag. The continuous casting production practice of domestic and foreign steel mills has proved that even if the selected mould powder is correct, if it is not used correctly, it will cause no quality problems of the casting billet. When adding mould slag to the mould, the mould slag must be evenly distributed on the molten steel surface in the mold. Corresponding measures must be taken when molten steel level fluctuations, drift, stop casting and other failures occur during the pouring process. In the actual operation process, the addition of mould slag should pay attention to the following items.

(1) Prepare slag adding tools: The slag adding tools are as follows:
Slag fishing rod: The slag fishing rod is mainly used to remove the large slag circle in the crystallizer. When bonding, it also has the function of testing the blank shell to confirm the operation of the blank shell. Metal oxygen burning pipes or wooden strips can be used. For eddy current liquid level monitoring systems, wooden slag rods must be used. For other liquid level monitoring systems, oxygen burning tubes can be used, which is convenient and practical.
Slag fishing spoon: It is used to hold the slag taken out when changing the slag in the crystallizer and scooping the slag.
Slag push rake: A tool for adding mold slag to the mold. For eddy current liquid level monitoring systems, also use a wooden wooden speculative rake to avoid signal interference. Dustpan for slag removal: used to hold the slag taken out during slag replacement and slag removal in the crystallizer.
(2) Precautions
1) When the liquid level of the crystallizer fluctuates abnormally, the addition of protective slag should be carried out after the liquid level is stable.
2) The casting powder should not be pushed directly to the corner of the mold.
3) When pulling out the slag block or slag ring, it is necessary to gently pull and pick slowly to avoid slag entrained by the molten steel.
4) When the tundish is poured, the mold flux must be added after the molten steel surface is immersed in the shunt of the submerged nozzle.
5) The casting powder is found to be abnormal during the pouring process. If the consumption is too low, the slag replacement operation must be carried out.
6) It is advisable to add slag frequently and thinly to ensure that a layer of new slag is always covered on the molten slag layer.
