Why choosing appropriate copper mould tube so important?
Continuous casting machine is an indispensable instrument in the process of steel-making. The quality of continuous casting directly affects the quality of billet. Many manufacturers do not know what to pay attention to when they choose the mold copper tube as the core part of the mold. What kind of copper mould tube we should use?
Copper mould tubes as a kind of refractory, should hold good thermal conductivity, high temperature resistance, fatigue resistance, strength, good wear resistance, and long service life. In order to ensure that the molten steel flows through the copper mould tube immediately forms a certain shape of billets, copper mould tubes should have strong thermal conductivity. Thus, we Ji-Steel’s copper mould tubes’ advantages are reflected!
Copper mould tubes of Ji-Steel have three main materials: TP2/CuAg0.1/Cu-Cr-Zr.
TP2: This material is mostly used. It shows excellent heat resistance and creep resistance under high temperature conditions, and has good processability.
CuAg0.1: Adding silver of 0.08%~0.12% in the melting of copper ingot can increase the re-crystallization temperature of copper by 100℃. In this way, the high temperature strength and wear resistance of the inner wall can be improved, showing higher temperature resistance than TP2.
Cu-Cr-Zr: It’s a kind of hardened copper alloy. Excellent mechanical properties appear both at room temperature and high temperature. Remarkable properties like high thermal conductivity,melting temperature, creep resistance, and thermal stress resistance dstinguish the copper alloy from the previous copper alloy, which is a variety of excellent properties. But compared with other copper alloys, the material is more difficult to form, and the manufacturing cost is more expensive.
The quality of some copper mould tubes in the market is uneven. When the inferior ones can’t withstand high temperature in the operation process, or the thermal conductivity is not strong, the billet production effect may not be ideal, which will also affect the production efficiency.
